Yesterday’s Bundesliga transfer roundup was made up of Dodi Lukebakio’s now confirmed move to Hertha Berlin, Chelsea’s interest in Torben Rhein and the pursuit of Emile-Smith Rowe by two German clubs. Today’s edition features the chase for Matthias Ginter, an update on Leroy Sane and Martin Hinteregger’s switch to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Tottenham and Atletico eye Ginter
Report: According to Bild, Atletico Madrid and Tottenham have made their interest in Borussia Monchengladbach’s Matthias Ginter official. His current side are said to want €60m (£54.9m) for the 25-year-old but the two pursuers are only willing to pay €35m (£32m).
Verdict: Ginter may be a good defender, but €60m (£54.9m) is an incredible amount of money to ask for him. Last season, the Germany international was not even Die Fohle’s best centre-back, with Nico Elvedi ranked as the number one by WhoScored. He does, however, already have plenty of experience under his belt and is developing into a favourite for international manager Joachim Low, who started him in Die Mannschaft’s first three Euro 2020 qualifiers. And at 25, he has a number of years left ahead of him. Tottenham need to plan for the future as two of their centre-backs are aged 30 or older, but Atletico have already signed one defender to replace Diego Godin and probably don’t need another. Either way, Monchengladbach’s demands are far too high, and both clubs would be better off looking elsewhere.

City put £137m price tag on Sane
Report: The Telegraph is reporting that Manchester City have put a price tag of £137m on Leroy Sane in a bid to warn Bayern Munich off him. It had previously been claimed that the Bavarians had made an official offer for the Germany international, but the Bundesliga champions themselves have denied those rumours.
Verdict: Wow. £137m would make Sane the second most-expensive player in football history. Is he that good? Probably not, but it shows just how much the Citizens want to keep him at the Etihad, and also how worried they are of Bayern’s pursuit of him. With this transfer, it is so hard to know exactly what is going on: there are conflicting reports every day in regards to the 23-year-old. Of course, Bayern do not need to get this done in a hurry, as the German transfer window doesn’t close until September, but Pep Guardiola and co would most likely want to find a replacement for the former Schalke man should he leave, and they would only have until August 8th to do so.

Hinteregger signs for Frankfurt
Report: It has been confirmed that Martin Hinteregger has completed his move from Augsburg to Eintracht Frankfurt. The deal has been completed after the two clubs agreed a €12m (£11m)-€13m (£11.9m) fee for the central defender.
Verdict: Hinteregger only spent six months on loan at Frankfurt last season, but he has already become a favourite with the Eagles faithful, with his unofficial “Hinti Army” fan club growing in numbers. He was the team’s best-performing centre-back of the season and, as such, will be welcomed back with open arms by Adi Hutter and co. He probably won’t be missed by Augsburg, however. Before making the short-term switch in January, the 26-year-old was fined and made to train alone after publicly criticising then-manager Manuel Baum after their 2-0 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach.
