The latest man to be linked with Liverpool is none other than Wolves’ Adama Traore. The 23-year-old has scored five goals and provided seven assists already this campaign, and he has shone in some of the biggest games – he has three goals and one assist against Manchester City in two matches, for example.
According to 90min.com, the Citizens and the Reds are interested in the winger, with former club FC Barcelona also eyeing their ex-player. However, the Midlands outfit are said to be looking for bids of at least £70m, so he would not come cheap if the Anfield side do manage to secure his services.
The question is, should the European champions sign Traore? Four of our writers give their verdicts.

“Whilst the football world seems to have gone mad with transfer fees – no doubt from that quite ridiculous Neymar deal – Liverpool have shown in recent seasons that big-money should be spent on the right personnel. For every Andy Robertson at just £10m, they have spent lavishly on the likes of Virgil van Dijk. The key issue is whether the player represents a significant upgrade on what they have, and whether he’s a vital piece of the jigsaw.
“Adama Traore may be shining in the Premier League this season with four goals and four assists to his name, but he falls well short of the standards set by the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Liverpool’s current wide duo have both scored in excess of ten goals this season, and were joint-winners of the Premier League Golden Boot last season. Right now, Traore is not fit to lace Salah’s boots. Jurgen Klopp should steer well clear.”

“For me. it all depends on whether or not Klopp actually finds a way to incorporate Traore into his squad. There’s no denying it – he is a player of immense quality and has shown that in the ongoing campaign. But would he actually slot right into the lineup? Probably not. Would he be content on being an impact-sub? That remains to be seen. £70m sounds like quite a lot of money for a player who would probably make appearances from the bench. But then again, it all depends on Klopp’s plan with the kid. The raw talent is there and the German manager could work his magic and turn him into a world-class player.”

“Would Adama Traore be a good signing for Liverpool? Absolutely. However, at a price of around £70m, it would be foolish to continue pursuing him. The rampant Spaniard has been nothing short of a revelation for Wolves this term, registering the highest number of dribbles in a single Premier League game since Opta records began. He’s contributed to five goals and seven assists in 2019/20 which is impressive, but if you’re looking to pay £70m for someone, you’d want double-figures in both columns.

“Traore would be a fabulous addition in terms of their squad depth but there are better options out there given the touted price tag. After all, Liverpool have just snapped up Takumi Minamino for £7.25m and he has more goal involvements, 20, than the Wolves winger this season. That tells you all you need to know. Liverpool must avoid this move.”

“There’s no denying that Adama Traore has been one of the breakout stars in the Premier League this season following eight goal contributions in 20 appearances, including three goals and one assist in two meetings against the reigning champions Manchester City, per Transfermarkt, but he would be an unnecessary addition at Anfield. If Mo Salah or Sadio Mane were to leave the club this month, then the case for the Spanish winger would increase tenfold as he’s going to struggle for game time behind either of those. It is also near impossible to foresee either departing when Liverpool are 13 points clear and look set for their first-ever Premier League title. £70m to sit behind these two is a waste of money that could be better spend elsewhere. Klopp must stay well clear of signing Traore this month.”
